"I am the light of the
world. Whoever follows me will never
walk in darkness, but will have the light of
life."
John 8:12
My grandfather, Winton D.
Lunceford, was welcomed into the
gates of Heaven on February 6, 1996.

Grandaddy was born in the
Mississippi Delta on June 27, 1918.
As I was growing up, I learned so much from my
grandfather.
He was one of the wisest and wittiest people I
ever knew.
He was a deacon in the
Baptist Church for many years and
studied scripture almost every day. Some of my
most vivid
memories of him are when he was sitting in his
recliner
reading the Bible.

Grandaddy always had a
vegetable garden and he made the
world's best plum jelly. I can still remember the
smell of
it cooking and pouring it into the mason jars.
We would shell purple hull peas 'til I thought my
fingers
would be permanently purple, but it was so much
fun.
Grandaddy had a strong love
for animals and a soft heart when
it came to a stray pup that wandered to our home.
He would
always take them in and feed them, so most of the
time, we
had a new batch of puppies around. He would pick
out unique
names for them...some of which included, Possum
Face, Pup Dog,
Leroy Brown, Dixie and Mr. and Mrs. Dog.

He was so very proud of her.

I look forward to seeing him
again someday in Heaven.
"And God shall wipe all
tears from their eyes,
and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow,
nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain;
for the former things are all passed away."
Revelations 21:4

I made this angel globe especially for you,
Grandaddy.
May the angels watch and keep you.
Go Rest High on that
Mountain
I know your life on earth was troubled
And only you could know the pain
You weren't afraid to face the devil
You were no stranger to the rain
(Chorus)
Go rest high on that mountain
Son, your work on earth is done
Go to heaven a shoutin'
Love for the Father and the Son
Oh, how we cried the day you left us
We gathered 'round your grave to grieve
I wish I could see the angels' faces
When they hear your sweet voice sing
Repeat (Chorus)
Go to heaven a shoutin'
Love for the Father and the Son.
